Call for International Support of Antiwar Demonstrations Planned for U.S. PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 09 October 2007

Since before the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq began, people here in the United States have joined with our friends, families, colleagues and counterparts around the world to say NO to war. Since before the war began, we have looked to our friends abroad to support our anti-war efforts, even as we know that people around the world are looking to our mobilizations here to force our own government to stop violating international law, to end the occupation of Iraq, to rapidly bring home all its troops, all the so-called "coalition" troops, all the mercenaries, and to close the U.S. bases built and under construction across Iraq.

This fall, United for Peace and Justice and many others in our movement across the U.S. are engaged in a host of protests, demonstrations, teach-ins, lobby days, and much more, continuing our urgent but so far unfinished work of ending this war. On Saturday, October 27, UFPJ is coordinating a national mobilization against the war that will take the form of demonstrations in 11 regional centers around the United States. By making it easier for more people to travel to cities closer to their homes, we hope to bring massive numbers of people into the streets on that same day. Together, we will send a powerful coordinated message to the Bush Administration and the U.S. Congress in: END THE OCCUPATION NOW - BRING ALL THE TROOPS HOME.

We ask you to join with us, in your cities and provinces and regions around the world, on October 27, 2007, when once again the streets will thunder with our voices, in many languages and in many countries, THE WORLD SAYS NO TO WAR!

Please let us know what your plans are and list any activities you are organizing on the United for Peace and Justice calendar at
