The Development Roundtable Series (DRTS), a project that aims to provide space for building alternative policy options and instruments on various developmental issues, opens its 2008 Summer Volunteer/Internship Program. The internship is designed to provide exciting opportunities and exposure to highly-motivated college students, graduate students and fresh university graduates.

We are looking for volunteers/interns who possess the following qualifications:

  • at least junior standing in college, and must be 18 years old or older
  • must be able to log in 15 hours of work a week
  • must be computer literate
  • have good writing skills
  • with high degree of organization and strong initiative
  • can follow instructions well, and are output-oriented

Some tasks associated with this internship include:

  • Documenting meetings, foras and roundtables;
  • Consolidating and updating our contact database;
  • Providing logistical support to the DRTS coordinator and the DRTS members (the thematic working groups)
  • Assisting in preparing reports and briefing materials;

Accepted interns/volunteers will be provided a modest allowance and will have a chance to assist in the various thematic areas covered by the DRTS: trade and industrial policy; foreign policy; water resources and services; agrarian reform and rural development; and food and agriculture.  The DRTS Secretariat, Focus on the Global South, will host the successful candidate.

Preference will be given to students who require internship credits, and/or whose academic work (major, thesis, etc.) relates with any of the thematic areas of the DRTS. Applying students should be of good academic standing (true copy of grades for all previous semesters is required), and must be able to show proof (Form 5 or enrolment record for summer classes) that current academic schedule, if any, can accommodate volunteer work.
